Music Production
producer/engineer/editor/mixer
I was in my early 20’s when I quit college and a good paying printing job for an internship at a small recording studio just north of Chicago. I was in the control room every waking hour, trying to learn about producing good recordings, and trying to build relationships with musicians and other engineers. I wasn't/ain’t a talented musician, but with the guidance of mentors and friends, I knew I could help bring out the talents in others. And so I have for almost 25 years.
I do love working in a formal studio environment, with a tape machine and vintage British console, loads of outboard gear, and a busy patch bay. But to keep up with tech and shrinking budgets I had to learn how to do great mixes inside a laptop. And now instead of renting a studio many projects involve some location sessions in alternative spaces like churches, practice spaces, houses, etc.
Working as team in person is typically ideal, but also available for remote editing and mixing sessions for music, film, and podcasts.
